Most of the hill stations in the country where first populated by the British who unaccustomed to the severe heat of India used them as summer destinations.

Located in the base of the Himalayas this hill station has a number of beautiful buildings, in which some of them were built by the Britishers. It was once the summer capital of India and has a number of markets selling handicrafts and antiquities.

Also lying in Himachal Pradesh, Manali is a hill station situated at a high altitude in the Himalayas. It is a scenic place and has quite a lot of tourist attractions which makes it popular as a holiday spot. Places of tourist interest here are the Solang Valley and the Rohtang Pass

Situated at a distance of 35 kilometres from the state capital of Dehradun, this hill station is at an altitude of over 1800 metres over sea level and has a variety of beautiful shrubs and forests.
